These hymnals are a treasure to me. They belonged to my Grandpa Ben, and they are the only thing I really wanted when he passed away. I have memories of singing these old hymns with him into the tape recorder when I was a little girl, songs like "Blessed Assurance" and "The Old Rugged Cross." This morning, I taught the kids "Christ Arose," since Easter is just around the corner. In the physical, I couldn't hit the high notes and Alli was being loud and distracting, but in the spirit, we were a great big choir singing songs of old! It's amazing to me how those hymns are so timeless, and I want my kids to know them as part of their heritage. I feel like I'm honoring Grandpa somehow by passing them on.
Wow Dana, I browsed thru all your pictures! What a blessed talent you have! I remember you being artistic from high school. They are fabulous. I really enjoyed reading your family blog, and know I will LOVE this blog too. My blog (since this experience is new to me) has been fun to keep up. I enjoy letting family and friends know what we are up to, the tiny little things that we always forget to tell and the big things too. I always thought it would be cool to incorporate entries like this blog into mine. Thanks, you have inspired me! I brought my lunch today so I would have an hour to catch up on my reading (I have been DYING to check out your stuff all week) and I would like to email you from my home puter later to "catch up" a little. Sounds like you are doing marvously well! Glad I found you! Love M
