longing for a baptism

Our church does not have a baptistery. When there is a need for baptisms, we all head out to the lake. I happen to think this is more of what God had in mind anyway.

If I could do it all over again, I would do it this way, with the frogs and the songbirds singing Hallelujah as I let His cleansing waters wash over me.

Sometimes I wish I could do it over again. Only this time, keep me under a little longer, wait until it's really washed away, left behind, all that's not of You.

  1. Hallelujah to that - I could use another dunk myself. Love your pics - the b/w tint is perfect. Looks so cool and refreshing (and renewing).

  2. Tristan and I were baptized several years ago. . . also in a lake--I agree. . .something very right and natural about that. I think I would certainly drown if I stayed under as long as I needed!! My favorite scripture is from Lamentations 3:23 Great is His faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh each day!! I don't know about you--but I really need fresh mercy each day!! It is such a blessing to know that no matter how badly I screw up each day, God is wiping my slate clean each day! Bless you!

  3. Oh, I love that verse. I count on that verse! Sometimes I need his new mercies at the top of every hour!
