Last night, Aunt Martia treated us to a date night - tickets to see Bach's St. Matthew's Passion, while she watched the kids for us. It was held at Presser Hall in Lindsborg. I really like the music of Bach, we got great balcony seats, and I didn't have to hush any children or get anyone a drink or take anyone to the potty for two and a half hours! Recording video was not allowed, but I couldn't help it, so I set my camera under my seat so no one would notice and pressed the button for just a little bit! (So the video footage is black and the audio isn't fantastic.) But anyway, I hope it's enough to enjoy for a minute. The choir is singing the very last part of the performance - words are below. (You'll only hear a very small portion of them - I'm sharing the words for poetry's sake.) Enjoy, and have a Happy Easter!!!
Here yet awhile, Lord, thou art sleeping,
Hearts turn to Thee, O Saviour true:
Rest Thou calmly, calmly rest.
Death, that holds Thee in its keeping,
When its bonds are loosed by Thee,
Shall become a welcome portal,
Leading man to life immortal,
Where he shall Thy glory see
Saviour blest
Slumber now, and take Thy rest.
